Wogadog Medical Update

So as I reported earlier in a couple of posts, Lili, had a bad leg that she was favoring and we took her to the Vet on Feb 14th and he said she only had 1 kidney and gave us some meds for her and then made us question the validity of that vet.  So we took Lili back to the old vet we used to use and he looked her over and said to keep her quiet and the leg was definitely being favored.  We then switched back to the Old Vet.  Move to Tuesday of this week.  Lili started to act funny again and I didn't want to leave her home with the other dogs, particularly Buddy, while I was at work so off to Grandmas it was for Lili and she spent a nice afternoon there and I picked her up on my way home.  Grandma said she ate well and went outside and sat in the sun.

I was off yesterday, Wednesday, and I could keep an eye on them all and how they were with Lili.  At about 2:15pm yesterday she was walking happily across the yard and as I was watching she just sat down and after about 2 minutes she tried to get up again and could not.  It was as though she completely seized up.  I called the vet immediately and he saw us about 4pm.  He took some x-rays of her and it showed where she is missing a, or has a slipped, disc in her back.  He said if she didn't walk by this morning, Thursday, that we would need to see an Orthopedic specialist and so it is with deep sadness that I report Lili did not walk through the night and so we will be at the orthopedic Vet at 10:30am this morning.

Lili has such a great spirit and wants to walk and is pulling herself around with the strength of her front legs.  Dachshunds are such long dogs that they sometimes cannot support their own weight and back problems are unfortunately a concern for every dog of that breed.  None of our dogs are overweight, but you just can't stop hereditary DNA.  Once we have seen the Orthopedic Vet I will update with a new post.  Please pray for Lili and a speedy recovery.

Love Jane and Lili  xxx licky lick lick.

until next post.....
