*****MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE PEOPLE OF JAPAN AND THE PACIFIC NORTH RIM*****
Mother Earth has shown us once again how powerful she can be. As we are experiencing torrential downpours and some friends have had to deal with flooded basements and that has been devastating Mother Nature has shown us how lucky we truly are and that things, although meaningful, can be replaced.
Today, Friday March 11, 2011, just of the coast of Honshou Japan The worlds most powerful earthquake struck at 2:16pm local time. The 8.9 measured quake triggered a tsunami that is traveling across the pacific and bringing an elevated surf and in some bays areas will create higher than normal tides for the Hawaiian Islands and the West Coast of the United States. My thoughts as I sit this morning looking out at the first sunny day all week is with Family and Friends that live in and around these areas.
As we sit and wait to hear how this has affected peoples lives and the global economy my fear is that the Earths Axis has been tilted by such a strong earthquake and that we will all have new weather patterns and other natural disasters to deal with.
Let's take on this term "natural disaster". What does it mean. We know it as something that is uncontrolable and is always blamed on Mother Earth. It is something that happens that is of no fault to Man. I think of it on a grander scale and go beyond our bubble. In our galaxy, The Milky Way, I know that there are 8 planets (9 if you count Pluto!) We, Earth, just like our fellow planets are stars. Every star just like life has a life expectancy. We know that the Earth is mainly water and I believe at some point in the past all the land was one big piece and Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Tornados, Cyclones and Typhoons helped shape the Countries we know today. The loss of life is terrible but the amazing part of our evolution is a direct reaction of how we change and continue to move forward in the wake of such "natural disasters" and make our buildings stronger and flexible to such things.
I hope that the loss of life for this most recent disaster is minimal and that we as a global community learn and grow from this most recent experience.
I did do 2 posts today so please make sure you get to read both, and until next post.....
