Wednesday October 6th, we wake up to more rain and still we trudge on out there into the world! So immediately we find ourselves once again on the subway or 'T' as it is called in Boston. A very old subway system. we head straight for the Harbour, because that's where the whale boat is leaving from... or is it.. Nope the sea is too rough.. Now what? we head into the aquarium and see the Penguins! oh my they were fun and although the New England Aquarium is nice it is a lot smaller than the Baltimore Aquarium and has a coral reef at the top of the big tank, not a rain forest, but on the way back down we saw huge sea turtles and other fishys and of course more penguins. then once outside its back to the Subway and we head to Boston Common.
Once we arrive at Boston Common we begin our walking tour of Boston, called the Freedom Walk, and it is full of history. We see where Benjamin Franklin's parents, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Samuel Adams are all buried. and that was just the third stop!!! Of course we are getting wetter by the nanosecond, but when will we ever be here in Boston again? probably never. We wind our way through the streets of this old town and see churches, meeting houses, and big old boats! what a day the freedom Walk is 2 and 1/2 miles long and we did it all the way to Bunker Hill. The worst part for me was not the rain pelting me to my skin , but crossing a bridge that was nothing but mesh floor. I did not enjoy that part of the tour.
Once we were done with our walk we headed back into the center of the city and found a nice Irish Pub so we could get some good and hearty lunch! And it was delicious. I had the Shepherds Pie and Hubby had bangers and mash. then we headed back to the Hotel and to put some warm dry clothes on!
I will always remember Boston as the city that has no drains! the rain water just made huge puddles all over the city. Totally ridiculous if you ask me! Well off to bed and we are out of here Thursday and we turn inland to New Hampshire and Fall. I can't wait to see those leaves!
... til next post...
