Well today is Thanksgiving Day and although I did not grow up with this holiday in my pre-teen years it is a holiday that meant something to me the minute I got here. 23 years ago Thanksgiving week we (my family) moved to America and from the moment I got here this is my favorite American Holiday. Besides who doesn't love Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing and pies? After all if some British were not pioneers far back in history Thanksgiving would not be here.
In reflecting on this day every year as I do, and I am sure all Americans do, to count my blessings and be Thankful for what I have and in some cases what I have lost I find that this day more than any other helps to settle me and put refocus on what is important in life. That being said the most important thing in my life is family - I am thankful for my family new and old. I am also thankful for my doggies without who I would have clean and tidy and very boring house. I am thankful that I have a home with my Hubby and that it is a very happy one. I am thankful this year for my Mum to have passed her driving test and the pure joy that was in her voice when she called to give me the news. I had not heard her sound that thrilled in a long time. I am also thankful that my relatives with health issues this year all pulled through and are back to healthy. And finally I am thankful that not a day goes by without a reminder of my Dad who miss terribly but who I learned from enough to last my whole life.
I hope everyone has a great and Happy Thanksgiving and those of you who do not celebrate have a great Thursday and just in the spirit of things think fondly and count your blessings.
Til next post...
