Well its all over. First I want to return to yesterday. I was very excited to vote for my first President ever and win or lose it was a very empowering day. To think that I made a decision and my vote counted for something is incredible.
Now back to the "NEW" America, I think that this just goes back to being alive during this time of American history. This must be what it felt like back in the 1960's when the civil rights movement passed, such a milestone, this early in the life of America. After all America has only had its Independence since 1776 a very young country by World it belongs to. As Eddie Izzard once said "I come from Europe, where the history comes from" In order to have history there must be firsts, and this is one of the big ones.
Although President-Elect Obama may have not been my choice, I am very excited to move forward and be apart of this America. Of course I hope good things for me, my family and my friends. For me in moving to America, 22 years ago, was represented to me and my sister as the land of opportunity, just as it had been known as that land in the 1600's when British and Europeans left what they new to be apart of a pilgrimage for a new and better life. I do not know if this is a better life as I was only 13 when we moved here, so as an adult I have only known being an American. I am happy to be here and I am proud of my decision to become Naturalized and have my say at the polls.
Moving on to a lighter note... It also looks like the people of Maryland have spoken and we are going to get slots !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I hope is that even though they are video slots they still have the big handle to pull. That reminds me of my Nana. Oh the fun we shall have!!!
Speaking of History, today in my homeland it is Guy Fawkles night, for those of you who do not know what that means it is really quite a morbid celebration that basically represents when a man, Guy Fawlkes, was angry with Parliament for aligning England and Scotland and the fact that King James VI of Scotland became King James I of a United Kingdom. So he tried to blow up Parliament on this day, of course he was stopped and if memory serves me correct he was hung, drawn and quartered and burned to death and as all bad people of that time his head was put on a spike and displayed on London Bridge, yes that London Bridge the one that is now in Arizona!!! Anyway to commemorate this scheme British children make a scarecrow and then once dusk falls the "GUY" is thrown on a bonfire and then Fireworks explode into the nights sky. I told you it was a morbid celebration!!!

Very well said Jane. I also hope that good things come from this election, as Obama was not my candidate either. The thing that scares me about Obama, is Joe Biden. He is a lose cannon with that mouth of his. I'm very proud of you for using your right to vote. See you soon.
Yeah, me too. Obama was not my concern either it was Joe Biden. He gives me the creepies!!!
Did you know that November 24th falls on a Monday this year!!! That's the day when my life changed forever.
Is that when you guys came to America? It changed alot for me too. I was able to have a real relationship with you, Lynda, your mom and dad, which I am so thankful for. I love your mom like she is my mom and it really helped me to have you all real close when the boys were little.
