I am actually not speaking of the game itself, although a good game of tennis is always a great thing, I am talking of dog tennis. You know that game where your dog falls in love with a tennis ball and though you may offer other things to play with the ball is all she wants!!! I am of course speaking of Lili who is so fixated on this one tennis ball that if you are sitting and even doing something she wants to play ball. Lili will fetch and bring the ball back to you, but do not expect a speedy return it may take a few minutes and even if the ball is returned quickly until Lili has dropped the ball do not even attempt to retrieve it from her mouth, it NEVER works out!!!
Daisy also likes to chase Lili's ball, but only because Lili wants it. If Daisy gets the ball she takes it and hides it away from Lili who stares at her until Daisy gives the ball up. Pepper on the other hand could care less about a ball and prefers to sit on the back of the couch and watch it all just like a cat. Buddy will chase the ball from time to time, but Daisy will tackle the hind legs of the dog who has the ball to get them to drop it and Buddy just does not want to play that game, Buddy is a lover not a fighter!!!
This one time the ball went missing and I got a new ball out, but Lili wanted no part of it and a few days later the original ball appeared. I think Lili probably hid it somewhere and forgot where she placed it!!!! Lili is not our brightest puppy, but she is very sweet little girl doggie, just don't get in her way when she wants that ball!!!!!!!!!!
