....but I know my blogs may lead you to believe this! Ha Ha Ha. Seriously I do have a full time job and with I am working to change that, but the lottery is not cooperating and refuses to randomly select my six numbers. I normally do not say much about my work at all, however this past weekend was particularly annoying and yes I am aware being in retail I am part of a service industry, but with the characters I met over the last 3 days the lottery needs to randomly select my six numbers, soon!
So today I am going to vent. first up a lady with stinky perfume who wanted a price on a new countertop for her home, not usually an issue if she had brought her measurements, but no she had none and became quite arrogant when I asked if she knew the size of her existing countertop and she informed me "I don't know that is why I came here" (OKAY!) so I guessed the sizes because her Husband, who couldn't be bothered to come in, wanted to know. She called back I guessed wrong and of course it was my fault (HUH!). Next up, and there is at least one a week, the fully equipped bells and whistles kitchen on the $5000.00 budget - including appliances! Yeah that usually does not happen and this lady was having none of it and did not believe me so then we play the game - show me what you want and I will see what I can do - I usually ignore the appliances in the pricing equation because lets face it she already had appliances and can buy new ones later so that $5000.00 budget is now all mine. With what she selected and focusing on savings and our in store credit lines I get her quote to just under $7000.00 and she states "really that is not that bad, it is less than I expected" I did not point out her original budget and let her know that the promotions end on Friday. After lunch I walked into someone that had been waiting for me, it turns out the appliance guy told her I would be right back she waited almost my whole lunch hour so I answered all her questions, even the repeats, and provided her with everything she wanted to know and needed to measure her area. She left happy with me but furious with the appliance guy.
This is just a few examples of what work has been like lately and I think most of it has to do with the economy. It is not all bad and is picking up and is starting to look more promising. I just hope it is quicker to get over this hump than later. It is driving me nuts.
Of course Customers I am paid to deal with my coworkers on the other hand are lazy and do not clean the displays and the place is beginning to look a little dirty and being only one person it is hard to keep up. Today though I think I will replace price labels. Pricing changed on a couple of our display countertops a week ago and I just left it to see if the others I work with noticed, they have not, so it must be done. The one guy I work with is full of no one showed me that yet, but he is funny and sometimes laughter cures a lot! The other is much more serious and I do not think he enjoys his time there much. He is just there to sell and I understand that but variety is the spice of life.
I am off tomorrow and Thursday and have already made all my plans it is going to be wonderful and I cannot wait. I have also decided on dinners for both days and got all my laundry done already I will probably have one load but that is OK!!!!
Well until next post....
